Mistress and a slipping morning

Mistress was good until breakfast. Then everything took too long and her eyeliner smudged the wrong way and when she finally, finally would be ready to leave she noticed she forgot her macbook charger at university yesterday. In another city.

And a big job to solve today. And her birthday coming up. And that itchy feeling in her throat that might means getting a cold (or not). And the lines she wants to draw don’t come out clearly, either.

A weekend off in Warsaw

I went to Warsaw for the weekend. Hoping for a spring weekend abroad, I got a chill, stormy and rainy city. The Warsaw I discovered had coloured houses in architecture from different decades, looking soft under the grey sky. Sometimes the higher buildings would fade in the clouds.

I had amazing food in more vegan cafes than I believe we have in Vienna. And I did hang out in cafes a lot, staying warm, deep into the last Harry Potter book. I don’t want to rush it but I also can’t wait to finish. Flat whites and hand lettered signs are everywhere, hipsters, too. Warsaw’s special history with neon reklama is still visible throughout the city at night.

Only on the last afternoon the sun broke through the clouds and it felt like the big weight of winter lifted for a moment, leaving the city glowing and changed.

Im Sommersemester vertiefe ich mit meinen Studenten die Grundlagen des Grafikdesign. Es ist nicht mehr alles neu, jetzt können wir experimentieren. Und während es bisher meist um Print ging, spannen wir den Bogen nun auch weiter Richtung Screendesign und Materialität in der Gestaltung.

Kollektiv Zyklus: eine Illustration zu Hedonismus

Kollektiv Zyklus ist ein fabelhafter «Spielplatz für grafische und illustrative Nebensächlichkeiten». Jedes Monat wird ein Thema bekannt gegeben, und dann wird gezeichnet und eingereicht (women only). Die erste Ausgabe ist jetzt online!

Spät am Abend vor dem Einsendeschluss habe ich mich vom Bett zurück an den Schreibtisch und die Zeichensachen gesetzt. Gezeichnet. Vom Quer- auf ein Hochformat adaptiert (vorher lesen…pff.) Und losgeschickt. Danke für die Idee, den Ansporn, die Plattform, liebes Kollektiv Zyklus ♥
